In collaboration with the project architects Jackson Teece Chesterman Willis and the Central Synagogue Design Committee, bangdesign designed and prototyped pew seating for over 2,000 seat places. bangdesign worked through a design process that involved consultation with the architects, the Synagogue's Design Committee and potential manufacturers. The result was very much in keeping with the spirit of respect, the seating honours the sanctity of the venue by blending quietly with the architectural setting. Functional requirements for the seating included; tilt back seats for access and egress, integrated book rests and locker boxes. One of the defining constraints for the development of the seating was to ensure that adequate sight lines were achieved for each and every seat place. |
